More Interviews

Sixty-four-year-old Robert Beale is a fugitive from Minnesota. He failed to show up for a federal trial on tax evasion charges more than 14 months ago.

He was a man who seemingly had it all. Married with four sons, he was starting and selling businesses - earning himself tens of millions of dollars in the process. He had two lavish homes - one in North Oaks, Minnesota and another in Naples, Florida. He had a private plane.

In 2000 he came to believe income taxes are un-American.

A devout Christian, he told us in an earlier interview "the Constitution came from a Christian culture - and only Christians can defend it."

According to a federal indictment - he didn't pay any income from 2000 - 2004. During that time, it's alleged he earned about $5 million. The federal share of that money alone would have been $1.5 million.

He narrowly escaped capture just two weeks after the would-be start date of his trial, but he hasn't been seen since.

Not until last Thursday - November 1 when he was arrested in Orlando, Florida. He's been hiding out there since the first of the year.

KARE 11's Rick Kupchella interviewed Beale at Florida's Orange County Jail on Tuesday, November 6th.

We've divided that interview has chapters below.

insurers and consumers who were gouged on Medicare co-insurance payments based on hyper-inflated average wholesale prices quoted by the companies to Medicare and Medicaid. Judge Saris ordered the companies to pay double damages because she said the companies willfully caused "real injuries to the insurers and the patients who were paying grossly inflated prices for critically important, often life-sustaining drugs."
